The Cardiff Met cricket team arrived in Sri Lanka with a formidable reputation, having established themselves as winners in UK university tournaments. Their visit promised to provide a formidable challenge to the cricketing talents of ICBT Campus, known for their skilled players and competitive spirit.
The two teams faced off in Colombo and Kandy. In Colombo, the Cardiff Met team squared off against the determined players of ICBT Colombo Campus. Cardiff Met team faced a formidable challenge from the talented players of ICBT Colombo Campus. However, ICBT emerged victorious in a convincing manner, showcasing their exceptional skills and teamwork.
Meanwhile, in Kandy, the Cardiff Met team clashed with the ICBT Kandy team in another intense match. This time, the visitors from Cardiff proved their mettle, securing a hard-fought victory against the home team.
The tour also included matches featuring the women’s team from Cardiff Metropolitan University competed against the Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket Development Squad. Despite facing a formidable opponent, the Cardiff Met women’s team showcased their skills and resilience, contributing to an exciting and closely contested match which was won by the local team.

March 26, 2024 – The ICBT Campus Awards Night 2024 was a night to remember as the institution honored outstanding individuals for their exceptional contributions and achievements. Held in a glamorous setting, the event showcased the dedication, talent, and commitment of ICBT’s finest.

Dr. Jagath Alwis, the esteemed Chairman of ICBT Campus, graced the occasion as the chief guest, adding prestige to the evening’s proceedings. Alongside him were senior directors of ICBT, including Mr. Patrik Alwis, Mr. Upali Witharana, and Mr. Nihal Peris, who joined in presenting the prestigious awards to deserving recipients.

The awards ceremony was divided into three distinct categories, each recognizing excellence in different spheres:

Service Excellence Awards: Recognizing the steadfast commitment and loyalty of individuals who have dedicated more than a decade of their lives to ICBT. These awards underscored the invaluable contributions of long-serving staff members who have played pivotal roles in shaping the institution’s success.

Academic Excellence Awards: Celebrating the academic prowess and outstanding achievements of students who have demonstrated exceptional performance in their studies. These awards honored individuals who have excelled academically, setting a benchmark for excellence within the student community.

Marketing Excellence Awards: Acknowledging the top achievers in marketing for the year 2023, these awards recognized individuals who have demonstrated exceptional skill, creativity, and effectiveness in promoting ICBT’s programs and initiatives.

The presence of Dr. Sampath Kannagara, CEO Executive Director of ICBT, along with Director Marketing Anura Gamage and Director Operations Mr. Vijith Liyanage, added further significance to the event. Their presence highlighted the institution’s unwavering commitment to fostering excellence across all aspects of its operations.

Following the formal awards ceremony, the atmosphere was transformed into a vibrant celebration filled with music, dance, and delectable cuisine. It was a fitting conclusion to an evening dedicated to honoring excellence and achievement at ICBT Campus.

Bringing home victories in Mens Singles 3^rd Place, Mens Doubles 2^nd & 3^rd Place, and claiming the title of University Staff Champions at the UMiSF Badminton Tournament hosted by the University of Moratuwa.

ICBT Colombo campus Business Management 101 students complete a project by providing requested School bags and Water bottles to underprivileged kids, who are studying the primary section of Weediyabandara Maha Vidyalaya – Mathugama, where 300+ students learning from grade 01 to grade 13. The school has identified 100 students who are financially suffering due to the current economic condition of the country.
Therefore, Business Management 101 students respond to the request sent by the principal of the school and purchase the requested school bags and water bottles. It took two months to finish the project.Students of Business Management 101 carried out various fundraising activities such as food stalls, selling ICBT logo key tags, and cricket tournament to collect the necessary fund requirement of the project while the balance requirement given by the ICBT campus from the allocated CSR budget.

ICBT Campus, a longstanding leader in Sri Lanka’s higher education landscape, proudly hosted the Annual Meet Up of its University of Sunderland alumni at the Kingsbury Hotel in Colombo.

Alumni Meet Up provided a vibrant platform for graduates to reconnect, celebrate their shared experiences, and foster stronger networks. Many of these alumni have gone on to hold influential positions in organizations both in Sri Lanka and internationally, showcasing the success of the ICBT – Sunderland partnership across diverse disciplines.
