Being a crucial step in the software development process, software quality assurance has made a significant contribution to the software industry. Software Quality Assurance has thrived in Sri Lanka since 2010 nevertheless, SQEs in Sri Lanka certainly confront several hurdles in their daily life while trying to achieve project quality for a variety of reasons aside from the traditional difficulties such as income, job satisfaction, and significant levels of stress at work. Numerous local researchers have been scarcely addressed in the previous literature regarding general issues but the gap between SQE’s personal life and the project-related work towards project quality, wherein they experience setbacks for several reasons, must be identified by taking that into consideration. If it is ignored, it clearly affects both SQE’s career and the project quality. For this study, the variables impacting the downfalls of SQEs in Sri Lanka on project quality were derived as Technical Skills, Project Timeline, Developer/QE Conflicts, and Project-Related Training, from the similar studies conducted. Quantitative research methodology was used to construct this study. The relationship of the above variables was tested using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis. Relevant recommendations were presented to lessen the downfalls of SQEs on project quality after the analysis and suggestions for future research were discussed for the Sri Lankan context.
