The importance of deriving a Quality Driven Culture in food manufacturing industry

This study is conducted to identify the impacts of various factors that have an impact on the quality culture of a manufacturing organization. Quality culture in an organization is believed to be the shared, beliefs, values and commitment towards quality. This study is set to identify the factors that have an impact on the Quality culture of ABC PVT Ltd, which is a confectionery manufacturer in Sri Lanka. The aim of this study is to bridge the gap in existing studies on quality culture. Since not much literature is available on Quality culture, the manufacturing companies in FMCG industries this study could be vital in identifying the factors impacting the quality culture. This study is set to achieve several objectives, from identifying the factors that impact Quality culture and their significance, to determining the impact from these variables on the Quality culture and identifying the combined effect of these variables. The data for this study was collected through a questionnaire that was distributed to 80 employees from different departments of ABC PVT Ltd on a random basis. The questionnaire consisted of 6 demographic questions and 30 questions on the variables. The results showed that only one out of the four identified factors, Employee motivation had a significant positive relationship on the quality culture. Therefore, Employee motivation was found to be the only factor that had a positive impact on Quality culture in this study, implicating that an improvement in Employees motivation would have a positive effect on the Quality culture of ABC PVT Ltd.
