Profile

Dr. Kalum has been working at ICBT since 2015 lecturing in the field of Biomedical Engineering and Biomedical Science.  After completing his PhD from Tohoku University, Japan in 2008 he worked in the field of academic (Kyoto University, Japan and Nanyang Technological University, Singapore) and industry (Albany Molecular Research Inc., Singapore) and was employed for about 5 years before joining ICBT.  

Dr. Kalum is currently the Head of Department/ Senior Lecturer in Faculty of Engineering & Constructions at ICBT Kandy Campus. Apart from that, he is currently the Program Leader in BEng in Biomedical Engineering Programme, Liverpool John Moores University, UK. He has taught on a number of undergraduate modules at ICBT in various programmes and currently teaching Introduction to Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Biomaterials, Healthcare Industry, Literature Review, Research project. 

Within ICBT, Dr. Kalum is a Head of research committee, Chief Editor AIRS (Annual International Research Symposium).  Also, he is editorial board member of International Journal of Biomedical Science and Engineering, Science PG, USA and Archives of Nanomedicine- Lupine Publishers, USA.

Dr. Kalum’s research interests are in the field of Biomaterials, Prosthetics, Automation and New drug delivery methods.
