Abstract

Sri Lanka is an agricultural country which gains so many profits from exporting many of agricultural products. Among these exporting products Sri Lankan organic spices are very famous whole over the world. At the present-day Sri Lankan spices are going through several of countries because of the product quality and environment healthy than the past. Not only foreign market but also local market has high demand for the organic spices because Sri Lankan food culture brings up with these spices by making foods more tastiest.
Therefore, this research mainly discusses about the organic spices industry in Sri Lanka and its dependability in the local market. This research main problem is doing the identified factors affecting on purchase intention of organic spice products in Local market. The research questions made over the impact of Health consciousness, environmental concern, reference group influence and awareness with the intention of purchasing of organic spices. The objectives of this research are to find out the relationship between variables, to examine the relative influence index of factors associated with a household’s decision to purchase organic spices, to make suggestion on the local market campaign of PODIE regarding organic spices through providing recommendations. Considering the nine administrative provinces, there are 300 responses considered in the sample as a result of quota sampling residents in each area
Through the statistical analysis the alternative developed hypothesis was accepted further it found that the relationship between dependent and independent variables are varying between each other. Ultimately this research study identified that there are positive relationships between all four variables with the dependent variables and the most effected variables are health consciousness and reference group influence. As recommendations implementing organic food spices campaigns, advertising events and promoting events through Ayurvedic Hospitals or Organic food companies in Sri Lanka can be done.
