ICBT crowned champions at Red Bull Campus Cricket Tournament 2019
The International College of Business & Technology (ICBT) went on to emerge champions at the Red Bull Campus Cricket Tournament 2019 – National Finals beating the Foundation of Goodness (FOG) in the finals held at Colombo Colts Cricket Grounds on Sunday, 28th July 2019.
The 26-team tournament kick-started on the 21st of July in 2 venues, BRC grounds and Colombo Colts Cricket Grounds. The tournament was played on a knockout basis with all the leading private sector education institutes taking-part. 25 games were played in the tournament including the final. The tournament was made more exciting by the participation of international cricketers along with more aspiring talents in Sri Lanka.
The FOG and ICBT teams dominated the tournament right from the start. The star-studded ICBT crushed Sri Lanka Technological Campus in their tournament opener. From thereon, the eventual champions defeated SLIM, Saegis and KDU on their way to the finals.
Niroshan Dikkawella the National Cricketer who is the Redbull ambassador was the chief guest and gave away the championship trophy to ICBT.
This is the 3rd time ICBT has won the coveted tournament, with previous national wins, ICBT represented Sri Lanka at the Redbull campus cricket world finals in the UK and India. With this emphatic win for ICBT, they will be the Sri Lankan representatives in the RedBull Campus Cricket world finals which is scheduled to be played at the United Arab Emirates this year.
