Abstract

Today work-life balance has become an increasingly pervasive concern for employers as well as employees. A good balance in personal life and work can play a vital role for attaining personal and organizational goals. This study focuses on the factors affecting the work life balance of employees in ABC Hospital. Then aims at identifying the significance of each factor to grade them in order of importance and measure the combined impact of independent variables towards work life balance. Finally, to give recommendation to management and employees on how to improve work life balance. For this study, an extensive literature review is collected from different journal articles, research papers, online articles etc. The population of the study was 307 permanent employees in ABC. A sample of 107 was selected under (Krejcie and Morgan, 1970) method. As per the literature review, four independent factors have been identified namely work-related stress, management support, personal life and technology advancement. Based on previous literature and preliminary investigation at ABC the hypotheses were developed. Method of analysis includes a structured questionnaire based on five-point Likert scale which was distributed among a selected sample at ABC in order to identify the factors which relates to the work life balance. Collected data was summarized in tables and percentages. Further, the relationships between work life balance and work-related stress, management support, personal life and technology advancement were explored using correlation theory. The research findings tested as per developed hypothesis showed that work life balance has a positive relationship with work related stress, management support, personal life and technology advancement. Thus, it can be demonstrated that the work-related stress, management support, personal life and technology advancement have an impact on work life balance. Introducing family-friendly policies and supervisor training in relation to better communication and grievance handling are recommended to the organization. Allocate a time to spend with family, friends and themselves while maintaining healthy habits is suggested to the employees.
