How does RMIT Foundation Studies at ICBT prepare students for RMIT university studies and their future careers?

  • We provide course content specifically designed to meet RMIT University higher education expectations
  • Students use the same learning management system employed by all students at RMIT University
  • Teaching methodologies are used to progressively develop study skills students will use during future studies at RMIT University
  • Students build the required discipline-specific knowledge needed for future studies and work in their field

RMIT Foundation Studies Program

  • 36 weeks of classroom tuition over two semesters
  • 8 courses = 4 courses per semester
  • Approximately 24 hours of classes each week
  • Tailored programs for students depending on their choice of future studies and career aspirations:
    • Science, Engineering and Health
    • Business

How to apply?​

Complete an ICBT student application form and provide the following certified documentation:

  • identification document – eg. passport or identification card
  • recent secondary school qualification
  • recent certificate of English language level (certificate must be less than 2 years old)
Classes will start July 24, 2023
To allow for processing by RMIT University Admissions,

lodge your application before July 10, 2023

Academic Entry Requirements

Sri Lankan ‘O’ levels

Minimum 9 points for three O Level
subjects. i.e. CCC

Sri Lankan ‘A’ level

Minimum of C in 2 A Level subjects

Cambridge GCSE ‘O’ Levels

Oxford IGCSE

average or 12 points

English language Entry Requirements

To enrol in RMIT Foundation Studies you will need to complete one of the following English proficiency tests:
  • IELTS (Academic): minimum overall band of 5.5 (with no individual band below 5.0)
  • TOEFL (Internet Based Test – IBT): minimum overall score of 50 (with minimum of 5 in Reading, 5 in Listening, 14 in Speaking and 15 in Writing)
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE (A)): minimum score of 42 (with no communication band less than 36)
  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): minimum of 162 with no less than 154 in any component.

Alternative English language level qualifications:C grade or above

      • Cambridge IGCSE: English Second Language
      • GCE O level: English Language (1123)
      • GCSE awarded by CIE, OCR, AQA, Pearson and WJEC
