The Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Higher Education Studies is designed to provide learners with the essential knowledge, skills, and confidence required to progress to higher education. It serves as an entry pathway for students who may not meet the traditional entry requirements for undergraduate study but wish to pursue a degree or professional qualification.
This programme develops academic, communication, and study skills that are vital for success in higher education. Learners will be introduced to a range of subject areas, helping them to build a solid foundation in critical thinking, research, writing, and problem-solving. The course also places strong emphasis on personal and professional development, preparing students for both academic progression and future career opportunities.
OTHM Level 3 qualifications can be offered to learners from age 16. OTHM does not specify entry requirements for these qualifications. OTHM ensures that learners admitted to the programme have sufficient capability at the right level to undertake the learning and assessment criteria.
OTHM Centre must ensure learners are recruited with integrity onto appropriate
qualifications that will meet their needs, enable and facilitate learning and achievement
enable progression. The qualification is offered in English.

Pathway 1: Undergraduate Degree Entry
Direct entry to the first year of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Business, Management, IT, International Relations, Tourism, Engineering, etc.), depending on the university and subject alignment.
Pathway 2: Higher Diplomas / Level 4 & Level 5 Diplomas
Progression to OTHM Level 4 Diploma (equivalent to Year 1 of a UK Bachelor’s degree).
Further advancement to Level 5 Diploma (equivalent to Year 2 of a UK Bachelor’s degree).
Then progression to Level 6 Diploma (equivalent to the final year of a UK Bachelor’s degree).
Pathway 3: International Progression Routes
Entry to partner universities abroad (UK, Europe, Australia, etc.) at undergraduate level, subject to meeting university entry requirements
