Higher Diploma in Psychology cover image
The Higher Diploma has a heavy emphasis on cognitive psychology, social Psychology, research and its application, and the application of psychology. Students during their first year (Level 4) will be exposed to the basics of psychology and given and introduction to psychology. During the second year (Level 5) students will be encouraged to think critically and examine the concepts of psychology through advanced reasoning and skills. Each year the student will have to complete 9 modules. In total, the student will complete 18 modules. The total credit hours will be 240.
  • O/L: 5 passes including a 'C' pass in Mathematics and English A/L: “ 2 “passes
  • O/L: 5 passes including a 'C' pass in Mathematics and English + Relevant OTHM international diplomas (DBA, DHRM, DICT, Dip. Psychology, Dip. BMS)
  • O/L: 5 passes including a 'C' pass in Mathematics and English + OTHM foundation
  • O/L: 5 passes including a 'C' pass in Mathematics and English + Equivalent Level 3 (L3) courses
  • Mature Route: Professional qualifications + Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience ( has to be 21 years+)
Special Note:
  • Students with A/L: 2 passes but an 'S' pass in either English or Mathematics can enroll in a fast-track English or Mathematics course and then join.
  • Students with “S” pass for both Mathematics and English at O/L, without A/L qualifications, can complete relevant IDICT, IDBA, or IDiploma in English courses to qualify.
  • All must be over 17 years + at the time of enrollment.
  • Edexcel/ Cambridge minimum (5 “C” passes or score above 4 ) including Math & English for O/L and minimum 2D’s for A/L (with the O/L requirement, they can either come with OTHM diploma pathways)
  • For psychology and Biomedical science, It is a must to Have a “C” pass for English @ O/L however if they have “S” for math can proceed with the fast track as long as they have A/L: 2 passes.
  • Students who joined before March 2024 for ICBT diplomas, OTHM diplomas, or OTHM foundation programs are eligible to apply for the November 2024 intake, regardless of their O/L results in English and Mathematics. This policy is expected to continue for the February 2025 intake.
A student who completes the HD in Psychology at ICBT typically progresses academically by enrolling in a BSc (Hons) Psychology top-up degree, either at ICBT or at a local or international university. Following the completion of the degree, students may pursue postgraduate studies such as an MSc in Psychology or specialised fields (e.g., clinical, counselling, or organisational psychology). In terms of career pathways, graduates often enter roles such as research assistants, HR executives, counselling assistants, or positions within NGOs and community services. With further qualifications and professional training, they can advance into specialised careers in psychology or related fields.
