MSc Psychology of Applied Behaviour Change at ICBT CAMPUS

The main aim of the programme is to develop the knowledge, understanding and skills of students in behaviour change and for them to be able to design, implement and evaluate interventions across a number of settings. The programme aims to develop graduates who have knowledge and basic skills in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, the ability to critically apply theoretical knowledge and understanding in applied settings.

The programme also aims to enable students to: develop the skills of a competent research user and an approach towards practice which is based on research evidence and theoretical principles; to extend theoretical knowledge and understanding of behaviour change; enhance abilities to communicate successfully at all levels, develop an ethical approach to the working and the ability to respond to a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary working environment.

The standard requirements for admission to Modular Master’s Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas and Postgraduate Certificates apply to this programme.

Applicants onto the programme should normally have an upper second-class degree (2:1) in a relevant topic area. Applicants with a lower second-class degree may be accepted on to the programme if they can show evidence of:

  • a high proportion of undergraduate marks in the upper second class range, particularly in the latter part of their programme; and/or
  • relevant experience of working in a related setting.

A student who has successfully completed modules in a similar programme at another institution may gain direct entry onto the MSc. These students must have the required number of credit points in appropriate modules. Following interview and presentation of the requisite documentation, they may gain direct entry into the scheme by being awarded Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Such candidates would be considered to have advanced standing, and would gain exemption from certain modules (see the Cardiff Metropolitan University handbook).

English Language Requirements: For students whose first language is not English, a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 overall with no sub score lower than 5.5 (or equivalent qualification) is generally required for admission.
