Transforming Learning Spaces: Painting and Renovation Day at Dharmaraja Primary School, Yakkalamulla

Students of BM 94 from the ICBT Colombo Campus successfully completed a CSR project by organizing a painting and renovation initiative at Dharmaraja Primary School, Karagoda, Yakkalamulla. The school currently serves 220 students from Grades 1 to 5 and faces challenges due to limited facilities. One of the key needs identified was the color washing of school buildings, desks, and chairs, an effort the school had been striving to achieve through donor support over the past two years.

Responding to this need, BM 94 students took the initiative to purchase all required paint and renovation materials. During the project, students also identified a shortage of essential stationery items among the schoolchildren. In addition to renovation materials, the BM 94 batch provided 220 stationery packs, ensuring every student in the school received necessary learning supplies.

The project was completed over a period of three months, with a total cost of approximately Rs. 330,000/=. To raise funds, BM 94 students organized various fundraising activities including comedy shows, food stalls, and movie days. The remaining financial requirement was supported by ICBT Campus through its CSR budget, demonstrating a strong commitment to community development and student-led social responsibility initiatives.

Supporting Healthcare: Providing Medical Equipment to the Ayurvedic Hospital, Borella

Students of BM 97 from the ICBT Colombo Campus successfully completed a CSR project by providing essential medical equipment to the Ayurvedic Hospital, Borella. During the period of the project, the hospital faced a shortage of critical medical equipment and was unable to secure sufficient funding due to the prevailing pandemic situation in the country.

In response to a request made by Dr. Dhamika Lokugamage, the BM 97 students took the initiative to purchase the required medical equipment for the hospital’s surgical ward. The project was completed over a period of two months, with a total expenditure of approximately Rs. 125,000/=.

To raise the necessary funds, BM 97 students organized various fundraising activities, including food stalls and T-shirt sales. The remaining financial requirement was supported by ICBT Campus through its CSR budget, reflecting a strong partnership between students and the institution in addressing critical community needs.

Helping Hands: Dry Rations and Construction Support for Sri Vajira Orphanage, Pita Kotte

Students of BM 95 from the ICBT Colombo Campus successfully completed a meaningful CSR project by providing dry rations and essential construction materials to Sri Vajira Children’s Orphanage in Pita Kotte. The orphanage, home to 80 boys, was in need of vital dry rations to support their daily meals. Responding promptly to this need, BM 95 students purchased the necessary supplies to assist the children.

During the project, the students also noticed that several doors in the orphanage had fallen apart. They took responsibility for replacing the damaged doors by funding the required construction materials. In addition to these contributions, the students spent quality time with the children and staff, sponsoring an evening tea accompanied by snacks to bring joy and comfort to everyone at the orphanage.

The project was completed over a two-month period, with a total expenditure of approximately Rs. 177,500/=. To fundraise for this initiative, BM 95 students organized various activities, including selling scrunchies and food stalls. The remaining costs were supported by ICBT Campus through its CSR budget, highlighting a strong collaboration between students and the institution to make a positive difference in the community.

Transforming Learning: Networking 11 and Software Engineering 68 Renovate IT Lab at Thalpitiya Junior College

As part of the Business Skills & Managing Business Project module, Higher Diploma students from Networking 11 and Software Engineering 68 batches undertook the complete renovation of the IT Lab at Thalpitiya Junior College. This hands-on project allowed students to apply their skills while significantly improving the learning environment for the college’s students.

Empowering Education: BM 65 Students Support Underprivileged Students with Essential Supplies

Students of BM 65 from ICBT Colombo Campus generously provided stationery, fabrics for school uniforms, and other essential items to support three underprivileged students in Nawela, Meerahawatta, Bandarawela. This initiative reflects their commitment to helping those in need and ensuring these students have the necessary resources to continue their education with confidence.
