A Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Information Technology in Cyber Security is an undergraduate degree program designed to provide students with a deep understanding of information technology and a focused expertise in the field of Cyber Security. This 4-year program typically covers a broad range of topics related to protecting computer systems, networks, and data from cyber threats and attacks. Specializing in Cyber Security is crucial given the increasing frequency and sophistication of cyber-attacks. This specialization equips students with the necessary skills to protect organizations, digital assets, infrastructure and individuals from cyber threats, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data.
Skills Developed
The graduates of this degree program will possess the following skills:
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Network security, cyber security and cryptography, cloud computing, internet of things (IoT) and digital forensics, systems security and integrity.
Analytical Skills: Ability to identify vulnerabilities, assess risks, and develop strategies to mitigate threats in cyber security.
Problem-Solving Skills: Capability to design, develop and troubleshoot secure network systems and implement effective network solutions.
Practical Experience: Engagement in design and development of secured network solutions, threat assessment, ethical hacking and penetration testing.
Research Skills: Conducting research in Cyber Security, carrying out literature review, analysis, explementary design, analysis and design of Secure networks, contributing to advancements in the field, and staying updated with the latest trends and technologies.
Internship
Students will undergo a 6 months industrial training in the field of Cyber Security. The training will give the student the exposure and hands-on experience in latest technologies in Cyber Security. Combined with theoretical knowledge, practical skills and industry exposure, the students will be well equipped to face industry challenges as globally competitive IT graduates specialized in Cyber Security.
3 passes in G.C.E. (A/L) in Physical Science Stream or Engineering Technology Stream or Equivalent Qualification

3 passes in G.C.E. (A/L) in any stream and a Credit Pass (C) in Mathematics at the GCE (O/L) or Equivalent Qualification and Bridging Program.
Completion of Bachelor’s Honours Degree meets the minimum entry requirement for admission to any SLQF level from 7 to 10 or to SLQF level 11 or 12 after successful completion of a qualifying examination in the same or a related subject. If the qualification holder possesses a minimum GPA of 3.0 in a scale of 0-4, even without a qualifying examination he/she may be admitted to SLQF level 11 or 12.
